What to Wear for the Holidays (Part 1)

November 20, 2017

It’s our favorite time of the year- family and friends, holiday parties, amazing food, special traditions, etc. The last thing you want to think (or worry) about is what to wear. Let our personal shoppers at A.K. Rikk’s help simplify just that! Jordan and Hannah have put together some “his” and “hers” outfits that are classic, stylish, and perfect for all your holiday occasions. In this rendition, we’ll cover the general holiday events- Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve. Once you explore these looks, we’ll send some more inspiration your way in Part 2 (Office Holiday Party, Cocktail Holiday Party, and Formal Holiday Party).

Thanksgiving:

Whether dining in or out, these looks are perfect for a Thanksgiving with friends and family. Both have a great mix of textures with elevated, earthy tones. The layers add versatility (coat/sweater on the men’s look and scarf on the woman’s look) depending on the weather, and the elasticity in the woman’s dress allows for a little extra room for pumpkin pie. Although the colors are more neutral, the pump and bracelet bag add a little femininity and formality to the woman’s look. The jean (especially when paired with the loafer) in the men’s look adds a casual, but still formal look for this holiday event.

Christmas:

Our personal shoppers pulled together some Christmas looks that are warm and cozy, but still sophisticated for a classic holiday at home. According to Jordan, in these looks, you can “sit by the fire, open gifts, and even chop down a tree.” The L’AGENCE pant in the woman’s look is a new rich, chocolate brown color with plenty of stretch, and the men’s trouser is a great alternative to jeans. Holiday parties, however, may require a more formal look- you’ll have to stay tuned for Part 2!

New Year’s Eve:

It’s almost 2018, so start it off with a bang and looking your best. For New Year’s Eve, these looks will elevate your style and really make you stand out. Many men have a tuxedo jacket, but are unsure of how else to wear it other than in a traditional fashion- why not throw it with a pair of jeans and t-shirt for a modern, cool vibe? The woman’s look is cute and fun, but a little sexy when you take off the jacket. You’ll be the perfect pair, turning heads in these outfits that pair classic pieces with a little bit of glitz (both men’s and woman’s shoe and woman’s look purse and earrings).

A.K. Rikk’s X Belstaff Event

October 19, 2017

Our A.K. Rikk’s X Belstaff event is October 27th and 28th, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to collaborate with the Belstaff team to bring the best of their Autumn/Winter 17 womenswear and menswear collection. The collection is unified in a theme rich with Belstaff’s military heritage.

According to their collection story, “the Naval + Submariner Collection is both tribute and testament to the incredible clothing that was worn by the British Royal Navy throughout WWII. It had to endure the harshest of conditions while out at sea, protecting sailors, boatswains and submariners alike, and it was upon the ocean’s undulations that the genesis of the four-pocket waxed cotton motorcycle jacket was born.”

Creating Experiences and Meeting Clients Where They Are: A.K. Rikk’s Celebrates 30 Years

October 5, 2017

We are so excited to be featured in Rapid Growth Media today! Leandra Nisbet wrote a intriguing article about A.K. Rikk’s past 30 years in business and what the next chapter holds.

“Opened in October 1987, A.K. Rikk’s is a premier men’s and women’s apparel retailer, located in Cascade. In addition to their retail sales, team members travel to serve clients throughout the country and provide personal styling. The team, which proudly uses the word family to describe itself, strives to be more than a typical brick-and-mortar retail store. Walking up to the store, guests will note the cobblestone walkway. Upon entering, chandeliers adorn the ceiling, plush furniture abounds, and you will instantly be greeted by a friendly face. “The next chapter of the A.K. Rikk’s story will include the launch of their akrikks.com warehouse, which is set to occur in the next few months. The warehouse will also be located on 28th Street and will take the customer experience digital. It will feature new technology and additional team members. It will provide opportunities to further engage with people outside of the City and meet them where they are and how they’d like to be served.” – Leandra Nisbet

The Constant Change and Evolution of Fashion

September 25, 2017

We are so excited to have our very own Jim Murray, President of A.K. Rikk’s, Morgan Wallace, Personal Shopper, and Ben Tobar, Director of Business Development, featured in the most recent issue of Great Lakes By Design. The Sunflowerman created an exceptional illustration of Jim on the front cover and R.J. Weick wrote a compelling piece on the fashion industry and how A.K. Rikk’s stays ahead in a constantly changing industry . Make sure you read the article here: Great Lakes By Design: Recit de la mode

Our favorite quotes from this article:

“As of 2016, the global industry grew to a multi-trillion-dollar enterprise and is only expected to continue on this trajectory through 2017. In the United States, the apparel market was valued at more than $300 billion alone. The constant change and evolution in fashion – designers, vendors, clients and retailers- can at times be considered an industry-wide challenge, however it also poses an opportunity. ” – R.J. Weick

“Clothes come and go and the industry is constantly changing, but having a story behind a brand helps connect our clients to the product” – Wallace

“We are always customer-centered” – Murray

“It is what I love about the fashion industry. It moves faster than any other industry in the world” – Tobar
