Resort Wear Is Here: Part 1- Women’s

January 17, 2018

With January in full swing, we know you are ready to travel to warmer climates more than ever! A.K. Rikk’s has hundreds of new resort wear arrivals to help you feel and look your best as you escape the snow and gloomy weather. Karina (Sales Manager) has picked three potential resort wear looks that we know you will love (modeled on Personal Stylist, Hannah).

This first look is perfect for a casual day out shopping, exploring, or going on an excursion. The fabric on this Chloe shirt adds visual interest and is a breathable linen. The terra cotta sweater is perfect for layering with varying temperatures throughout the day. Pair this with a bag from The Row and a pair of cute scalloped flat sandals from Chloe, and you are all set for a day on your feet or kicked back on a deck for brunch.

The next look is great for both day and night. The top and bottom are patterned separates from Alice + Olivia. The vertical stripe detail is extremely slimming for every body type, and the separate pieces allows for versatility in your current wardrobe. The colors and bow tie on the collar characterize the quintessential resort wear nod to “nautical” style, inspired by sailor and yachting themes, but in a subtle and current way. Throw on a pair of Stuart Weitzman loafers, and a Chloe cross body chain purse and you are ready for a dockside dinner!

Want to elevate your resort wear look a little bit more? Throw on this striped crop top and wide leg pant by Alice + Olivia for a late candlelit dinner on the beach. The wide leg is universally flattering and creates a fantastic high-waist silhouette for the crop top to be featured but still tasteful. This oversize bag by The Row is perfect for throwing in an additional jacket or sweater for a chilly night, and it is a great introductory price-point for one of our favorite brands! The nude Stuart Weitzman shoe is classic and simple, allowing the lace details of the pant to stand out more.

From head to toe, your style can be not only weather and trip-appropriate, but unique, fashionable, and luxurious at the same time. Not seeing what you need or love? We have hundreds of more options in store! Contact your personal shopper to set up an appointment. He or she will start pulling looks that are customized to you and your trip!

Dearest Bride,

March 1, 2013

Dearest bride and friend of mine,

First, I would like to thank you for including me in your bridal party. It means a lot to me that you think of me as such a close friend. The next few months of your life are going to be insane.

Please take a big breath.

All right, you’re going to be fine.

Now, I’ve never been in a bridal party before and quite honestly, I’m perfectly OK with that. We both know the stereotypes when it comes to being a bridesmaid, and I’m referring to the dresses in particular. And, you know what, I really wouldn’t mind wearing a basic, solid-colored, and, let’s be honest, low-quality dress if it didn’t cost an arm and a leg… and giving up my first child.

Was that harsh? I know the day is about you and not me, but help a girl out! You have been or will be in my position. Would you want to walk up to your closet and in the back corner see a sad dress waving at you, reminding you of that drunken night when that creep wouldn’t stop hitting on you because the boring dress clearly identified you as a bridesmaid?

Or would you like to walk up to your closet one Friday night and throw on that cute dress that you wore at that fantastic wedding from last summer… and on that hot date you had last month… and your friend’s baby shower… and your mother’s birthday…

You get my point, right? A dress is worth more when you can wear it more often. These are the times where you don’t mind paying a pretty penny because you can divide the cost by the number of times you wore the dress. You’re not blowing all your money on a boring dress you only wear once. It’s math!

So… what makes you wear a dress more often: when it’s made-to-last and when you actually like the dress. And let me tell you, there are plenty of dresses that I like, giving you a lot of options to choose from.

Right know, A.K. Rikk’s is getting adorable spring dresses ALL THE TIME. Take, for instance, these Alice + Olivia dresses. Not only do we have great dresses in the store, we also have access to tons of dresses from the brands we carry. If you schedule an appointment, we can work with you to figure out exactly what you and your bridesmaids want, order them for you, AND alter them so that they fit perfectly!

So, dear friend of mine, choose wisely. I don’t want you to give me a reason to photobomb and ruin all of your wedding pictures.

Lovingly,

Kendra

Feelin’ Blue

February 27, 2013

We’re feelin’ a little blue here at A.K. Rikk’s but it’s not because we’re under the weather! Although there are plenty of hot colors this spring, blue is a major one. Looking around the store, it’s as if there are little blue puddles everywhere.

So let’s jump in them!

We have beautiful ocean-inspired dresses from Tibi, florals from Marc Jacobs, blue knits and tees from rag & bone, caftans from Cynthia Vincent, a 60s inspired dress from Alice + Olivia, and all-shades of blue denim from Hudson Jeans. Fellas, I did not forget about you. There are plaid Eton button-ups, blue-leather Ferragamo loafers, tees from Splendid Mills, turquoise bracelets from M. Cohen, and Nudie Jeans with blue stitching instead of the orange!

Phew! So, we might have more than little blue puddles… more like pools? So, instead, let’s go for a dive!
