Behind The Seams with A.K. RIKK’S – David

February 4, 2017

Today as a part of Behind The Seams with A.K. RIKK’S series we’d like to introduce our Data Analyst, David Wiers. He has been a part of our family for two years. David is an important member of Heart of House as he is always on the pursuit to gain and share knowledge with our team, which is a direct reflection of our Core Values at A.K. RIKK’S. He has always known in one way or another he would be in the fashion industry – as he explains, “What I do as a data analyst is to collect, process, and perform statistical analyses, which are very black and white but I work in a world such as fashion that is based on emotions, feelings, and perspectives. I find there is an interesting balance because there is a science behind business but there is not a science behind style.” Get to know who David’s style muses are and his perspective on fashion through a series of questions in our tenth Behind The Seams with A.K. RIKK’S interview.

Miniature Monday

June 9, 2014

None None None None

Haute Couture may be a term some of you are familiar with, or maybe not. Either way, the term often gets thrown around in such a way dulling its (for lack of a better word) sparkle.

Haute Couture is actually a name dubbed only after a fashion house has proven its worthiness of the name. In order to be honored with this title of “high dressmaking” (the literal french translation) the garments much be purely constructed by hand and custom fitted to the form or wearer. The houses that take on this challenge usually tend to work with some of the most expensive and luxurious materials and combining it with very delicate and extreme amounts of detail. The house of Dior Haute Couture is a prime example of how far Haute Couture can be taken not just in the construction of their clothing, but you will also find it in the presentation of their collection’s runway shows.

Check out these great videos that show the making of miniature versions of two iconic Dior Haute Couture dresses.

Derby Days with A.K. Rikk’s!

May 5, 2014

On Saturday, May 3rd, 2014 a few members of the A.K. crew went down to Chicago to attend the GQ + Woodford Reserve Derby Event. The Godfrey Hotel’s new venue, the I | O Urban Roofscape was the perfect spot to host all of the fashionable and (dare we say it?) dandy guests. We clinked our festive copper glasses with a number of great people including bloggers from The Chicago Chic, local Chicagoans, and the awarded best-dressed guests of the night. Check out our looks as well as a few of our favorite moments from the night!
