Pamella Roland Spring 15 Trunk Show

November 4, 2014

None None None None None

This past weekend, we hosted our first Pamella Roland trunk show at A.K. Rikk’s. We feel so fortunate to be working with Grand Rapids’ own Pamella Roland (DeVos) and to be able to offer the city of Grand Rapids the opportunity to shop her collections of evening gowns and cocktail dresses right here, right now! Pamella made an appearance during the event to support her line and her long-standing relationship with A.K.Rikk’s, and it was such an enjoyable experience to watch her do what she loves- making women look and feel amazing in her dresses! The quality of the materials and details that go into the production of the dresses combined with the impeccably gorgeous designs are what make Pamella’s collections stand alone in the world of luxury evening wear: it is simply outstanding.

To Boot New York Trunk Show

March 13, 2013

Today is a special Wednesday because our To Boot New York trunk show started! Representative Josh Reighard drove up from Chicago, bringing along a variety of samples, giving our customers a larger selection to choose from. I had the privilege of talking with Josh:

K: There’s really not much out there about the company!

J: Yeah, the coolest thing about our product is that we don’t advertise. We just try to make the best shoes out of Italy at the best price point.

K:What can you tell me about the team at To Boot New York?

J: It’s Adam Derrick, Mike (the president), and three other people, including myself, that sell the shoes. We’re so much better priced because we’re not paying teams for designer. We have one designer. It’s tight.

K: Your shoes have such a classic look and feel…

Yes, it’s a classic line, but it’s constantly updated with our own twist. What’s cool is that we can evolve it every season. We don’t have to do the same shoes over and over.

All of the shoe samples are staying until Saturday, March 16th, when the To Boot New York trunk show ends. Thank you, Josh for chatting with me!

Trunk Show Thursday: Judith Leiber

October 18, 2012

Judith Leiber has a remarkable story. I cant help but to be
in complete awe of this strong woman, her history, and her accomplishments.
Once on the Nazis list of Jews to be murdered, Leibers name, now worth
millions, exudes so much elegance and luxury that Michelle Obama decided not to
carry a Leiber minaudiere to
her husbands inauguration in 2009, breaking the American tradition of every
first lady since Mamie Eisenhower in 1953 to carry one. Although small, Leibers handbags hold so much
significance and history.

Today at A.K. Rikks we are so honored and happy to be
having our first Judith Leiber trunk show. The collection will only be here for
two days so be sure to stop in to get your little piece of history!

Q & A

April 21, 2012

Thanks to everyone who came out to meet up with Brian of Isaia and get a dose of his sprezz-i-ness! During the show we did have some questions about the way Isaia garments are made. The shoulders on jackets and shirts have a certain wrinkling at the seam (see picture above) This traditional tailoring detail is called grenze. It is a mark of handwork, which simply cannot be replicated by a machine. The advantage to having grenze on certain seams of a jacket or shirt is that it gives the garment a natural stretch which adds mobility for the wearer.

Next question?
