Behind The Seams with A.K. RIKK’S – Courtney

February 9, 2017

Today as a part of our Behind The Seams with A.K. RIKK’S series we’d like to introduce our Women’s Merchandise Coordinator, Courtney Lee. She has been a part of our family for almost three years. A lover of fashion for as long as she can remember, Courtney recalls, “There was this one specific moment when everything changed for me. I was shopping with a friend about six years ago standing in the check out line with a fashion book in my hand and my friend turned to me and said ‘You obviously love fashion don’t you? You need to work in that industry.’ For some reason those words made a huge impact on me and redirected my career focus.” Get to know why Courtney is a full fledged #ChloeGirl through a series of questions in our twelfth Behind The Seams with A.K. RIKK’S interview.

January 4, 2017

The A.K. Rikk’s family is a close-knit group with many different roles and personalities. All of us acquire inspiration that holds major influence on our personal style. That inspiration can come from anywhere – be it travel, culture, designers, art, street-wear, magazines, or architecture. The best part of working in our family atmosphere is the opportunity to grow and share unique perspectives with each other. Join us throughout our Behind the Seams with A.K. RIKK’S series as we offer you the stories of the unique individuals who make A.K. RIKK’S exceptional.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan! Morgan lived in Chicago for three years and loved exploring the cities museums, restaurants, and neighborhoods gathering inspiration while studying Fashion Business at Columbia College. In March, Morgan moved back to her hometown of Grand Rapids to join the A.K. Rikk’s family as a Personal Shopper. Morgan loves that her career introduces her to so many people and the opportunity to take her clients confidence to the next level by helping them feel great about what they are wearing. She states, “As a Personal Shopper at A.K. RIKK’S, I have the best of the best designers at my finger tips which gives me a deeper connection to the fashion industry. The environment here at A.K. inspires my creativity and continues to grow my passion for fashion.” Get to know her personal style through questions she answered in Behind The Seams with A.K. ESCADA Spring & Summer Preview

February 1, 2014

While old man winter continues to cough and sneeze on us, the staff of A.K. Rikk’s has decided to move beyond that and think spring… and summer! After digging our cars out of the snow and arriving to work, we walked up to Women’s Luxury on the second floor and were greeted by the bright whites and blacks, brilliant blues,  vibrant reds, and electric yellows of Escada’s new Spring & Summer 14 collection.

ESCADA representative Adair Blakestead is here today to help walk you through the line and the ordering process. Danielle from Reserve Wine & Food is also here today with delicious cheese and fruits in addition to a champagne bar! While the treats end today, Adair will also be here Monday to assist you with all of your ESCADA questions. The preview ends Tuesday, February 4th and at that point we will bid auf wiedersehen to the line!

Beth & Rebecca

November 25, 2013

It wasn’t until reading an interview on Refinery 29 with CEO Beth Bugdaycay that I realized I didn’t know that much about Rebecca Taylor aside from the fact that they make amazing, romantic clothing that you can introduce into your work wardrobe  or… just keep it casual! They took tweed from your grandmother’s closet and made it cool again with their moto jackets made out of tweed or leather-detailed peplum tops. They had a bustier top in their Fall 13 line that is TO DIE  for. And from there they have cowl-neck knits that you want to curl up in on your couch and watch the snow fall. Seriously, these ladies make it all work. I thought the much-loved label was run by one woman.

I’m just trying to run!

July 19, 2013

As we continue to grow and expand our women’s business (stay tuned for some exciting news!!), we also continue to look for inspiration. Sometimes, that inspiration doesn’t even come from the fashion industry. Katherine Switzer was the first woman to run the Boston Marathon in 1967 by signing up for the race with just her initials. By the end of it, she had changed women’s history and sports forever. Here’s to Katherine, for inspiring us to push the limits and do the unexpected.

We are preparing to welcome a new designer to our deck of cards. Diane Von Furstenberg will be arriving soon (better know as DVF). We have had a lot of anticipation about this collection because of how A.K.RIKK’S interprets how a brand should be bought for our clients. Can’t wait to show you our unique spin on a class act! Get ready for an amazing fall ladies!

Mission: V-day

February 6, 2012

Gentlemen, yes it is at hand once again- Valentine’s Day, and it is also time for the good chaps of the world to get their act together. Reservations are filling up as we speak, and two dozen roses that arrive suspiciously late in the day are just not going to cut it. If you would like any reciprocation in the least I suggest you turn to A.K.RIKK’S women’s department and well known jeweler Judith Leiber. So how do you cop something that is altogether tasteful, celebratory and all importantly indulgent? Well just ask one of the tastemakers here at the store!
